Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN: THE
COMPLETE FIRST SEASON, ELIZABETHTOWN, FLIGHTPLAN, FOUR WEDDINGS AND A
FUNERAL: DELUXE EDITION, THE GREEN PASTURES, GRIZZLY MAN, LAW AND ORDER:
THE FOURTH YEAR, REPO MAN: COLLECTOR'S EDITION, SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE:
BEST OF ALEC BALDWIN, AN UNMARRIED WOMAN, and ZATHURA:

ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON (reviewed by Brett
Cullum, overall score 90/100):
"George Reeves may not have been the first 'Man of Steel,' but he sure
does feel like the guy who defined Superman for all others to come. Like
Bela Lugosi's Dracula, his will always be the measure of any man looking
to fill that famous red cape."

ELIZABETHTOWN (reviewed by Joel Pearce, overall score 78/100):
"Elizabethtown should have been a great movie. Parts of it are
excellent. But I am left with the feeling that it began as a great
soundtrack, and that the drama and romantic comedy were an
afterthought."

FLIGHTPLAN (reviewed by Mike Pinsky, overall score 70/100):
"This is what they call a 'Hitchcockian' thriller, so we know right away
that there will be some overcomplicated and villainous scheme going on."

FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL: DELUXE EDITION (reviewed by Jonathan Weiss,
overall score 88/100):
"Whether it's the close bonds of friendship between all the main
characters or the unbreakable bonds of holy matrimony going on around
them, when it comes right down to it Four Weddings and a Funeral is
about spending your life with people you love. And that's a big chunk of
its charm."

THE GREEN PASTURES (reviewed by Bill Gibron, overall score 90/100):
"Indeed, The Green Pastures makes very clear the connection between God
and His people, a true physical connection that goes beyond prayer and
studied Sunday rituals. Though some fundamentalists would argue over
this interpretation, the film follows a far more humanistic approach to
religion than any made before or since."

GRIZZLY MAN (reviewed by Ryan Keefer, overall score 91/100):
"Documentaries are a source of inspiration, wonder, and pain. Werner
Herzog's Grizzly Man is a fascinating look at a man who is, innocently
enough, trying to find his place in the world."

LAW AND ORDER: THE FOURTH YEAR (reviewed by Adam Arseneau, overall
score 90/100):
"Speaking of cast, Season Four is particularly transitional. Long-
standing police lieutenant Anita Van Buren (S. Epatha Merkerson) joins
the cast, as well as ADA Claire Kincaid (Jill Hennessy) who sticks
around for a few more years. Unfortunately, this is the last season for
Michael Moriarty, who plays EADA Stone, ultimately replaced by the
absurdly long-standing robot insurance salesman Sam Waterston."

REPO MAN: COLLECTOR'S EDITION (reviewed by Brett Cullum, overall
score 95/100):
"Repo Man may well be one of the most influential films of the '80s.
Don't believe me? Check out the origins of Napoleon Dynamite, because
he's in this movie already. X-Files? It's already here. Quentin
Tarantino and the Coen Brothers have cribbed major elements from this
movie (most blatantly in Pulp Fiction and Raising Arizona). This was the
little cult title that could; the mouse that roared."

SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE: BEST OF ALEC BALDWIN (reviewed by Cynthia Boris,
overall score 95/100):
"As with all of the SNL 'Best of' DVDs, there's some good and some bad
in this package, but I'm happy to say there are more highlights than low
spots. That may be because Baldwin himself chose the sketches that made
it to this DVD."

AN UNMARRIED WOMAN (reviewed by Dan Mancini, overall score 90/100):
"The greatest praise I can heap on An Unmarried Woman is that, despite
its subject-matter, it doesn't play like a Lifetime channel movie of the
week. It's also aged pretty well even though its clearly a product of
the feminist zeitgeist of the seventies."

ZATHURA (reviewed by Mac McEntire, overall score 82/100):
"Zathura is not really science fiction; it's more about science fiction.
Director John Favreau (Elf) uses the film to throw as many classic sci-
fi images at the screen as he can."
