This is realy typical - newbie users who come on this NG and expect
more experienced users, against all sense, to answer their questions
despite providing no details. Nothing in the OP screams newbie more
than that part about expecting a DL because the file is popular.
Ofcourse, having made it pretty obvious what's wrong with their
question, the only response they can come up with is jab about Hammerer
being a kid. Well, Kiddo - it works both ways, and you're OP shows you
could deal with some mothering yourself. So in the hope of setting you
straight on proper respect for nerds, I offer these proposed
explanations for your failure to DL - each based on having to assume
details you've proven too lazy to provide.
You're on WinMX Peer Network and
-you've set AEQ to ten - knowing that there are millions of users
chasing after millions of megabytes, you've configured WinMX not to
enter any queue containing more than 10 users;
-you've set AFS really high
-you never manually enter really long queues.
-you've chosen to connect as a primary, even though you're internet
connection isn't stable enough.
You're a leech - which makes sense if you're idea of sharing files is
anything like you're conduct on this NG, all "somebody give me an
answer".
You're on Open-Nap and
-you haven't connected to any servers
-you've connected to so many servers, you don't have enough bandwidth
to actually download anything.
-you've tried to DL the same file from the same source user while
connected on multiple servers. Few things - not even leeches - piss me
off more than the sight of the same user DL'g the same file through
three or four servers.
You're on dial-up and just have no patience
You're on broadband and don't know anything about port settings.
You're on Cox internet.
You're on AOL...and don't know how to turn your computer on.
....now those are just a few questions that we stupid nerds ask
ourselves when we want DL's.
