For some reason, I had this down on my list for 10/4 - must be the
regular release date. Walked into BB (Dublin, Ca.) yesterday and
failed to find it in "television" or "science fiction" - it was on the
new releases rack.
I disagree with your assessment of the packaging; I'm pleased with the
packaging/presentation. Nothing fancy, but it all serves well - I
prefer simple static menus to animations. Audio/video are fine for a
program from 1995/96, enough episode info on the back of each
slimcase. No real extras, but this is a quirky Scifi program that
barely lasted a season, so I'm glad it's out at all - you can't be
expecting some kind of Special Collector's Edition or anything.
Checked those sections of Episode 2 (chaps 9, 10, & 11) on both my
standalones (Sony NS700p, JVC N322S) and my computer drives, and they
play fine. It does sound like a single-disc aberration, but when you
replace it, check your replacement disc ASAP - it's not uncommon to
have the same error repeat in discs from the same batch. Again, you're
right - it's nothing really special, but it is quite serviceable if a
bit pricey. For the fans who have been waiting, I'd recommend it.
Cheers.
