Got the same problem, Weatherman. I don't use XP (OLD W98 fan here), so
no freaking M$ firewall, dumped Zone Alarm when doing P2P, dumped the
router. Just WinMX to PC to DSL modem to ISP.

Have you tried ShieldsUp on www.grc.com? I have, and ALL ports come up
"Stealth" on my system. So, my next suspicion was my DSL modem. BUT,
for a short while earlier this year, EVERYTHING was humming right along,
with all kinds of d/l and u/l activity. Then, suddenly--the waiting
game again.

Incidentally, I've also tried dial-up as well, and have similar results.

I tend to go along with "db's" suggestion: it just might be your (and
my) ISP. Don't know what can be done about it, though.
