Users of Winmx can be quite snobby about what others are sharing.
I think you would be ok if you share .avi .mpg or .mp3 files as well as
your Real Media stuff - otherwise you might find other users wont let
you upload from them.
Actually, this attitude about Real media files, which is even more
vitriolic than the attitude to .wmv files, is slightly misplaced.
It is the Real Media software which is despicable, not the format itself.
I would recommend everyone try out Real Alternative, which comes
complete with Media Player Classic, and is so charmingly like Windows
Media Player before all the horrid bloat that it is now my default
player for everything that it will support.
