No, you did not.
What you found (presumably) is one of the numerous SCAM sites that have
cropped up around all the P2P services for quite some time now.
At present, WinMX - the *always* free software program from Front Code
Technologies is down, for reasons unknown but suspected to be either in
response to threatening letters sent to at least 6 file-sharing
applications, or in a move by FC Technologies to an off-shore site outside
the draconian jurisidiction of the RIAA.
There is a great deal of chatter on alt.music.mp3.winmx, with links to
websites such as http://www.slyck.com/news.php?story=921 among others
covering this development.
You might want to do a little research before making errroneous accusations
than only serve to further confuse the uniformed. WinMX is not now, nor has
it ever been, a "pay service."
