Well, we obviously have very different tastes in music but for what it's
worth, I use the following genre folders, some I made up myself but I
know what they are:
Acoustic-Folk
AltCountry
AltGrrrl
Blues
Bluegrass
Celtic
Classical
ClassicRock
Comedy
Compilation
Country
Electronic
HipHop
Jazz
NewAge
R&B
Reggae
Rock-Pop
Soundtracks
Vocal
World
I have those "genres" pre-loaded into the genre field for ID3 V2 in the
tagging program I use (ID3TagIt) so typing a letter or two auto-fills it
in the way my folders are named and then the program will move the files
into the correct genre folder for me.
The majority of what I listen to ends up in four or five of the larger
folders but I don't think I could eliminate any of those without missing
them. On the other hand, sometimes a piece of music barely fits into one
or the other but as it is my collection I just put it where I feel it
fits best.
