That paragraph 5A.-(2) of the 'Copyright, Design and Patents Act 1988' had me bugged for
the longest time. I finally decided it means that copies of previously copyrighted sound
recordings and films cannot be copyrighted on their own, however copies of a copy can be
considered copies of the original (even though one may try to argue that lossy "copies"
aren't copies per se).
