Starting with an mp3 and ending up with a playable CDR, I'd recommend
dbpoweramp music converter. That will turn your mp3's to wav files. Then
use whatever burner you've been using to make the CDR.
Going the other way--starting with a CD and ending up with mp3's--I'd
suggest either Exact Audio Copy (EAC) or CDex.
Lately I've been storing my vast music collection on DVDR discs, as wma
files. I've been able to store as much as 220 hours on a single DVDR.
