Audio cassette to wav is done but how to clean the audio?

Posted by Texarc on 12/18/05 02:16

I have a favorite audio cassette that I can record using LineIn from a
Sony cassette player to the sound card of a desktop PC running XP Pro.
I have CDWave editor, Nero 6.x, and soundsoap.
When monitoring the recording process, the audio sounds great through
the PC's sound system.
When I then play the 45 minute long WAV file of all the cuts, the music
sounds like the speakers are blown, even though the volume is not any
higher that when it was recorded from the cassette.
Is there a tutorial somewhere on how to get rid of the blanks between
the songs, and make the music sound better?
Thanks for any URLs or suggestions.
