Yep, no sense in making it easy for the marks to figure out that
they've been had. You're doing better than the guy last week who lost $150
worth of music in a hard drive crash and then started asking questions.
For me, all I want is a way to listen to

To add to the confusion, some WMA files have DRM, some do not. One of
the sites someone was asking about recently sold WMA files that sometimes
could not be burned at all and sometimes expired after a set period of time
depending on the license given by the record company.
I will keep in mind the potential for loss

It's not just potential. After that third transfer the license you need
to be able to play the file won't transfer. The most commonly recommended
work around it to burn the files to a CD and then rip that CD to files
without DRM. There is also software to capture the output of your sound card
and convert that to the file format of your choice. Depending on a number of
variables either method will result in some loss of sound quality. With care
the loss can be very minimal.

Yep. These days most of my CD purchases are either used discs or very
small record label discs. The recent Sony Music root kit debacle shows that
even this route is developing problems. At this point there are plenty of
work arounds for the discs that are copy protected.

I'm sure some people find me pretty rough too, particularly the more
clueless, but CQ tends to have a particularly antagonistic posting style.
Usenet has always been a place for the more thick skinned.

Yep, the amount of bullshit put out by even supposedly reputable
companies is mind boggling these days.
