No, I haven't backpedalled at all; I merely restated it in a way that it
would be understandable to those who are too literal to understand
metaphor.
And although I've rarely metaphor I didn't like, it seems that there are
people who have metaphor they didn't recognize. (Apologies to Will
Rogers and anonymous.)
