So far it has played Xvid off both the "TeraStation" and DVD+R,
with no problems.

For the TeraStation's built in media server, it's just copy/move
the files to the media share directory structure. The share appears
as one of your "drives" in XP. You can make any structure you
want from there. I have a directory for each TV series I am
collecting, and a subdirectory for each season.
I haven't used the PC server with the "Link Theater" or installed
the software that came with it. According to the manual it does a
slightly better job of organizing the files and presents more attractive
menus, than what I have with the TeraStation's server. One
advantage of the NAS approach is that it will serve files without
having to have a PC running. They have other NAS stations and
USB drive solutions that the Link Theater can extract media files
from. Most any USB2 drive case setup can be used with the port
on the LinkTheater, and no server is required to extract and play
media files.

Yes, I'm not convinced this "newfangled" Wireless Tech. is a
good ide'er. It's not that hard to wire a house, here in TX,
everything runs through the attic.

Actually that came as a surprise, first that it does it at all,
and second that it didn't mess up the image in the process.
It can't make a lower resolution image into a high resolution
image but it does make it so the lower res. image looks
good in a high resolution display. This was not always the
case when playing low res. video on a HD display, before
the Link Theater.
