Don't let the obscure name put you off. This is a first-class piece of
kit from China that oozes quality and plays almost 'the lot'. It even
has a SD/MMC/MS card reader for viewing photos/camera movies and is TV
tuner compatible. Up till today I already had a Panasonic LS50 and a
Hitachi PDV302. But this Shinco thing blows them both away, not only
in terms of looks and feel - cool brushed aluminium case as opposed to
the usual plastic - but also in terms of sheer ability: as I said,
1720C plays EVERYTHING I've thrown at him so far, though not any WMV
files.
Leastwise - I've never seen anything in High Street stores to match
this device.
No more converting DIVX movies downloaded from the Net. Just burn em
as files onto a DVD-RW and pop into Mr Shinco for immediate viewing.
Easy-peasy.
The unit also comes with:
1. A nice padded zip carry case/holder which can be hung over the rear
seat of a car for kids' viewing in the back on long journeys.
2. 12v cigarette lighter adapter.
3. Video/audio cable for hooking up to a TV or other external video
kit.
4. Full function remote control using button cell battery.
5. In-ear earphones for the 2 x earphone sockets on the unit. So two
can watch and listen at the same time. Cosy?

in Jersey for £144.99 inc. VAT delivered. I ordered online at around
0330 on Thursday morning and it arrived in Glasgow by Royal Mail
ParcelForce next day at 1030. I've also ordered stuff from play.com
before and have been pleased with their service and prices.
If you're in the market for a reasonably-priced 7" screen DIVX
compatible multi-region (yes! multi-region) portable DVD player that
is very capable and comes extremely well-built and well-
equipped I can strongly recommend the Shinco SDP-1720C.
But pleeeease... I'm not a dealer or a Shinco rep or anyone else with
either a vested interest in these things or promoting play.com... (cos
you can get the 1720C from Amazon as well and other places too).
I'm JUST a satisfied punter who was wise enough to buy a Shinco
SDP-1720C - and feels glad about it.
