Definitely true. What is "right" for content providers probably is going
to be "wrong" for users.
Personally, I don't care that much about recordability restrictions as long
as all they do is stop propagation. In other words, if I can record an HD
TV show and watch it when I want to on any HDTV, but can't pass it along to
another recording device unless that device is "authorized" isn't a real
issue for me (especially if it's easy to authorize all the devices in my
house to share with each other).
Not being able to watch it because I have to use an encrypted digital output
is a problem, since I don't have a TV with a digital input, much less an
encrypted one.
