They are different than most cameras under $10k. But the format will indeed
soon be dead.
The only real area in which these cameras have advantages is in the analog
image they produce. And that could be debated since many new cameras have a
great deal of DSP applied to image control which the Betacams do not have
and never will. If you think about it.. all of the independent features I
have had go through here .. none of them used a betacam to shoot. But they
certainly could have.
Other than that they are heavy, expensive and .. unfortunately obsolete.
