thanks for the input Mark and from what i read it's the down conversion
where the trouble comes in. if a particualar machine can capture the
material in 4:3 on a 4:3 there's no problem but in an HD camera the ccd is
typically a 16:9 ccd and because the pixels are smaller they get what was
termed as "wash" from pixel to pixel when down converted on the screen OR
mixed when downsized through conversion compression. i'm certainly no
expert by any sense of the imagination but from a software logistics the
explanation does make sense. dosen't mean it's right just that it could
logically be right and the author presents the case thoroughly and to be
safe we've chosen to avoid that path unless someone can show us otherwise.
on the pixel shift, we've experienced that already in post from a lower end
consumer camera and it's as evident as daylight when the sun comes up :o(
on the audio we will hav about 1/10 of the show in music and thus we have to
know that this is not a problem. do u know if the z1 is at least 16 bit 48
khz stero AND stays that way through the workflow?
