Good grief, I haven't quite put me coat on yet but before I go the DV
and DVCAM mode is 48K PCM and the HDV mode is MPEG. But it's only lossy
if you haven't the slightest clue what to do with it in post.
Do I know what I'm talking about?
Had an FX1 since November (Antarctic adventure for Nat. Geo and others)
First Z1 in April (Featurette for the movie January 2nd and an
iconoclastic Documentary currently in production for UK broadcast)
Canopus Edius SP for HDV installed in May. Second Z1 in use for
Corporate productions based out of our Dubai office, just got back from
Khartoum in the Sudan the week before last, including an hour of hand
held work from a Russian military helicopter. Third Z1 arrived last
Friday and just completed a weekend shoot with it two hours ago. Got
another Z1 and one of the new A1 'palmcorders' on back order, should
arrive next week. Second Canopus suite, hopefully the HD version, being
installed in our Wales office (one of the constituent 'Kingdoms' that
make up the United Kingdom) as soon as we get conformation of a twelve
hour series for a new $20m 'Super Broadband' Channel based on the 40 meg
platform being launched mid 2006 (With MPEG 6 technology the equivalent
of over 120 megs of current capability is available or to put it simply,
real-time instant access, no download, full frame, full motion, high
definition television without limitation of territorial borders or
current transmission footprints). A new world my friends which will
surely put an end to the current business models and the associated
cultures of the Range Rover and Tuscany Villa set currently controlling
things.
Now I'm really getting me coat.
