FOR EXTERNALLY MADE FILES
(FROM THE Product-A MANUAL)
The Product-A supports MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 video encoding:
o Acceptable stream types
MPEG-1 System Stream or MPEG-2 Program Sream
(single elem.video&single elem.audio)
NOTE: transport stream is not possible
Elementary video stream
o Three video resolutions:
Note: OTHERS ARE NOT ALLOWED
352X240 (HXV)
352 X 480
720 X 480 ***
o picture rate must be 29.97 pics per second
o max bit rate of 10Mb/s
Note: HIGHER RATES NOT SUPPORTED
o NTSC with 4:3 ratio required
o 4:2:0 sampling format required
[Note: i'm told the video ideal is 4:1:1 - RM]
o IBBP GOP structure recommended for best quality
o encode header information in stream eveyr few seconds to aid in error
recovery
o Audio must be encoded in the MPEG file using Audio Layer II
o Audio may be encoded at a 32, 44.1 or 48KHz sampling frequency
NOTE: recommends a rate of 44.1 for optimal performance
o MPEG filenames may contain up to 27 characters in addition to the
required ".mpg" extension.

Product-B uses MPEG-2 as
the primary file format. For acquisition, it
can operate in 4:2:2 Profile with data rates
to 50 Mb/sec. Both I-frame and long-GOP
are supported, with a variety of choices for
GOP length and frame coding. In Main
Profile, rates to 15 Mb/sec are available.
Graphics Option
Extends Product-B capabilities to include direct import of DV-format
video and TARGA graphics
files over Ethernet. Plays DV in native format and graphics with
simultaneous key and fill. Direct FTP file
import from <your standard editing software>. May be added to an
existing Product-B or ordered as an option for new servers.
