The thing about Beta SP and the many two bit local TV stations that you
have plenty of in the USA is that Beta SP needs a high level
maintenance. As the heads slowly deteriorate these two bit stations
often don't seem to notice that their footage has degraded well below
the proper Beta SP standard, often reminds me of African and other third
world stations that do the same thing. You almost never see such
degraded Beta SP footage in the UK unless it's news from the USA or
Africa!
