A 12V lead-acid battery such as those used in UPS's or for intruder
alarm systems would power it nicely. They do not use that much power.
One of the small square 9V batteries might do it for a couple of hours.

Or (as you're into RC modelling) some RC cars use 12V lead acids for
power, your model shop might have something to do it.
