What a laugh you here something funny every day in this job.
I suspect the truth is that colour matching material that has white in the
scenes is requires accurate camera setup and skilled grading.
Something a quality production would manage with ease.
If budget is tight and skills are sparce then they maybe wise to reduce
potential issues for them.

How anyone can image white will screw up colour balance is great. Let's just
have bright red walls and all relax.
