Have been playing with the new Media Studio Pro 8, and love what I see. My
one problem is with the Batch Capture program when capturing HDV (from Sony
Z1).
Creating in/out points is really easy: much neater than Premier Pro. but
getting the program to actually capture desired clips is another story. The
program fast forwards to int in-point , usually overshooting by a few
seconds. Then it puts the transport into slow reverse play to (presumably)
find the in poin. Then it goes into normal play, and captures. That, at
least, is the plan. What it does however, is forgets to stop the slow
reverse play until it hits the beginning of the tape: then it kicks into
normal play, and plays until it hits the in point - and then captures. While
it sometimes does what it is supposed to do, more often than not it does
not, and as you can imagine with 60 oor 70 clips designated on a 60 minute
tape it can (literally) take hours and hours just to capture a few! I have
been solving this problem by manually watching the EDL timeing, and hitting
PLAY a few seconds before the in point. But it would be real nice to have
this task done (as it should be) automatically.
When it does capture, the captures are perfect! (Unlike premier pro, which
seems to like a few groups before and after a capture) Ulead is spot on.
In the event that this was a computer problem I installed the program on my
laptop, and same problem. I have even tried earlier (than the current tral
d/l) versions.
Has anyone else seen this problem - and if so, any fixes, or bright ideas???
