Hmm...I was under the impression that DV audio is universally 48 khz (I
assume you mean the 44.1/48 khz sample rate, not kbps) I see that the
input parameters under DV capture show 48 khz as the audio rate. I
assumed that the camcorder's output on passthrough would be the same as
whatever it is when recording/playing back a tape recorded in Dig8
format. But it's certainly an issue worth exploring if it explains the
problem.
Again, the thing that makes me scratch my head is that it didn't do
this before I reinstalled the O.S.

Perhaps my understanding of the distinction between mpeg and mjpeg is
fuzzy.
