And if your camcorder doesn't do pass through then you should still get
the firewire card and buy a converter (personally, I prefer the Canopus
ACVC-55, but that goes out of your price range.) I see that B&H is
selling an ADS-Technology Pyro A/V Link Pro bundle for $139.95. It
comes with the capture card, an A/D converter breakout box and a copy
of Premiere Elements. Though I've never used it, as a start for you,
it probably will do everything you ask and it falls around your budget
and it gives you the capture card, converter and software all in one
package. As with most things though, the quality typically falls in
line with the cost.
