I like the system mentioned below put together for under $1k.

HOWEVER, the one part they didn't seem to consider: all video is not
currently in digital format. What? They talk about connecting video
sources through USB and FireWire. How are they going to get video
tapes and other analog sources into the box.

I have used ATI All-in-Wonders for 3 generations of the ATI product. I
am currently using an aged 7500 and it is still working flawlessly. I
can attach any kind of video source I have: NTSC or SVideo. And I
still have the IEE394 and USB ports for the digital video importing.

Although I have not tried it, Pinnacle Bundles 2 different hardware
soluions with Studio v9/v10.

Just something to think about.
