You can get up and running with one of the training DVD's in a day.
You'll be doing the basics of capture and editing, and maybe DVD
authoring and burning. It will be a lot cheaper than hiring someone for
a day, and you have the training DVD to refer to anytime you want.
As long as your computer is up to "snuff", you should have no problems
this way.
There are several training DVD's you can use. Me, I have Paul Mitton's,
Adita's Mastering LE and Dive Into LE w/Tony Terrana. Each brings
something different to the table, but all cover the basics and some
advanced work (color correcting, dynamic time warp, pan and zoom, etc.).
If the person being trained is computer literate and has a basic concept
of video editing, there should be no problems at all.
http://www.adita.com/edition5.htm you can view demo clips
If you contact http://www.videoguys.com/, I believe they have a 1/2
special on training DVD's for LE. Call them for the particulars (I
receieved this notification via Email from them). They also carry all
the training DVD's mentioned. If you contact Adita, Myron was
practically giving away the training DVD's. He might still have some
available.
Again, I say all this because you yourself can get up and running in no
time. Basica editing in a few hours. Mastering... well, it depends on you.
