Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of THE BATMAN VS. DRACULA, BLOODY
MALLORY, THE CABINET OF CALIGARI, THE DEAD NEXT DOOR, ELEPHANT WALK, THE
HOUSE ON 92ND STREET, THE INTERPRETER, JUNGLE JUICE, THE MAN WITH THE
SCREAMING BRAIN, OVER THE EDGE, PUMPKINHEAD II: BLOOD WINGS, A WHISPER
IN THE DARK, and WITCHES OF BREASTWICK:

THE BATMAN VS. DRACULA (reviewed by Maurice Cobbs, overall score
75/100):
"When you take a premise as rich with potential as a Batman-Dracula
showdown and the end result feels painfully underdeveloped, you have a
serious problem."

BLOODY MALLORY (reviewed by Mitchell Hattaway, overall score 60/100):
"Together they make an unstoppable team of fighters-of-the-weird,
tooling around the French countryside in their hot pink hearse. So, when
Pope Hieronymus I is kidnapped by a bunch of undead thugs, Mallory and
her pals are naturally the only ones who can solve the case."

THE CABINET OF CALIGARI (reviewed by George Hatch, overall score
40/100):
"I have no idea why this title was chosen, but the film has no
connection whatsoever with the landmark German Expressionist classic,
The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari (1920), directed by Robert Wiene. I'd
like to cite this as another ripoff, but I wonder how many average
theatergoers are familiar with the original film?"

THE DEAD NEXT DOOR (reviewed by Patrick Naugle, overall score 60/100):
"I'm not exactly sure what I was expecting from The Dead Next Door; I'm
learning that if a film is over twenty years old and not known very
well, even in cult circles, there's usually a reason."

FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/deadnextdoor.php

ELEPHANT WALK (reviewed by Erick Harper, overall score 40/100):
"What do you call a movie that takes the trouble to go all the way to
exotic Ceylon and then bogs down in a run-of-the-mill soap opera love
triangle? Elephant Walk."

FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/elephantwalk.php

THE HOUSE ON 92ND STREET (reviewed by Paul Corupe, overall score
74/100):
"Unfortunately, in today's 'reality'-saturated screen entertainment,
it's not as easy to appreciate The House on 92nd Street's precedent for
authenticity, which is truly the only aspect that sets it apart from
other, more run-of-the-mill noir genre product."

FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/houseon92ndstreet.php

THE INTERPRETER (reviewed by Ian Visser, overall score 70/100):
"Part of the problem is the sheer amount of plot involved. The movie
practically groans from the constant introduction of characters, side-
plots, double-crosses, and twists."

FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/interpreter.php

JUNGLE JUICE (reviewed by Bill Gibron, overall score 55/100):
"At the one-hour mark, we are wishing for something to happen, and at
the one-hour-and-30-minute mark, we just want it to end. Jungle Juice
could very easily be called Bungle Juice or Botched Brew as it lumbers
along on screams, curse words and...not much else."

FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/junglejuice.php

THE MAN WITH THE SCREAMING BRAIN (reviewed by Patrick Naugle, overall
score 54/100):
"It's with great displeasure that I sit here and type that The Man with
the Screaming Brain is a big, shiny turd. Written, directed, and
starring Campbell, it's a cheap-o B grade groaner gone horribly wrong.
Please, Mr. Campbell, don't hate me."

OVER THE EDGE (reviewed by Dennis Prince, overall score 77/100):
"Young people deserve more credit than this because they're much more
intelligent than the creeps on display here. Perhaps the adults are to
blame: those slinking behind the camera."

FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/overedge.php

PUMPKINHEAD II: BLOOD WINGS (reviewed by David Johnson, overall
score 78/100):
"Is this movie high art? Of course not -- though a solid case can be
made that you'd enjoy it more if you were indeed high."

FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/pumpkinhead2.php

A WHISPER IN THE DARK (reviewed by Bryan Pope, overall score 70/100):
"If the film's most unforgivable sin is its inability to elicit chills,
its inability to hit the right notes with the performances finishes a
close second."

FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/whisperindark.php

WITCHES OF BREASTWICK (reviewed by Rob Lineberger, overall score
76/100):
"For those of you intrigued by Witches of Breastwick's 'erotic horror'
genre blend, let's dispel the notion immediately. The only horror in
this film comes from low piano notes, dancing flames, and a curvy silver
dagger. Other that that, the flick consists of naked breasts bobbing in
a hot tub like overinflated beach balls."
