I don't agree. Cassettes were around at the same time as 8 track. 8
track had fatal flaws. The sound was poor, and the tapes deteriorated. VHS
was hugely popular for decades before DVD burning became a reality. The
difference now is that DVD is so much more solid than it's predecesors. The
sound and video are flawless, and it lasts almost forever. The only drawback
is space really. It's going to to take something really special to get folks
to change now.
