So let's say you do find a "serious bug", whatever that is. Are you
saying that you will then receive a free copy?

That was not how it was represented to me. I was told I had to obtain
a paid copy no matter what. I wrote back and explained my policy but
the person I was corresponding with came back and said that it was
their policy to require everyone to pay for a copy.

Time to move on to TDA and maybe Womble. Somewhere someone has an
authoring application that works. I know it can be done because there
are examples of applications that are every bit as complex as DVD
authoring that do work.

For example, CyberHome has a new model out, the 1600. They also market
it as the ILO DVDR05MU (not the ZU). I have gone thru every possible
contortion trying to break the software and it is bullet proof. There
are a couple of very minor nuisance bugs that really have to do with
my personal preferences and not the overall functionality.

Now there's a product that sells for $99 at WalMart (ILO) or $120 at
Best Buy (CH 1600). You get the best of two worlds - a great product
at a great price.

Now before the morons start claiming that the ILO is a piece of junk,
make sure they are referring to the DVDR05MU. The earlier ZU is not
the same thing. Nor is the much earlier DVD04 which was made by
Lite-On and not Cyberhome.

So there - I gave an example of a product that does work and is very
attractively priced compared to the junk on the market. If they can do
it with something far more complex than DVD authoring, then the
developers of DVD authoring tools should be able to put a relatively
bug-free product on the market for an affordable price.

Look at DVD Shrink. It has a lot of the more primitive authoring built
in, which works fine - and it's free.
