How else would you want me to present the problems I am having?
Apparently I am bugging you so I will stop asking you for help.

The clip I want to play first is the first clip.

I didn't. I removed it from the project and reinserted it. Now it
works properly.
I have no idea what went wrong - all I can tell you is that the first
clip set up as the "firstplay" clip played as the firstplay clip but
it did not play its full length. Somehow it was "cut short".
I do not believe it was operator error because I am using the same
procedure each time, and I have not had any firstplay clip problems
except this one time.
