One last thought along philosophical grounds.
In Frank Herbert's masterpiece "Dune" the religious councils on the
various world of the known universe "attempted to consolidate their
religious systems into the newly created Orange Catholic Bible."
But "the O.C. Bible caused a hostile reaction among the peoples of all
worlds, which led to this comment by the chief religious leader: 'We
should've realized we weren't supposed to introduce uncertainties into
accepted belief'."
Those who have spent good money have a religious attachment to the
product they bought and react in a hostile manner when someone
"introduces uncertainties into their accepted beliefs" about that
product.
My purpose was not to do that. My purpose was twofold: 1) To make sure
it was not me or my clips but was MF4 causing the problems I was
experiencing; 2) To warn others to be careful in investing time and
money in MF4.
The concluding comment in Dune regarding religion:
"Religion must remain an outlet for people who say to themsleves, 'I
am not the kind of person I want to be'. It must never sink into an
assemblage of the self-satisfied."
That holds true of religious attachments to software. I regret having
to be the messenger who bears the truth. But it is wrong to shoot the
messenger.
