Been playing with NERO and found it can burn mini-DVD's which are
standard CD-R/RW's created like DVD's but with less content on them. But
if I use the KVCD standard which ends up with 2-3 hours of "near" VCD
quality on a CD-R/RW at 352x240 (http://www.kvcd.net) and does a really
nice job at 528x480 with roughly 80 minutes on a CD-R/RW. The KDVD
standard I have not tried yet but it claims DVD-compliant MPEG-2 at 1/2 D1
of about 10 hours on a DVD - which then should give me about 80 minutes on
a CD-R/RW as a mini-DVD - which means I would answer my question then about
how to get around DVD-authoring tools only wanting ne to use compliant
video -
so still question up for grabs - any DVD authoring tools that allow one to
override settings and create non-standard DVD's? I have a mini-DVD player
I would be writing for from the CD-R/RW and it has shown it can handle the
KVCD standard as part of just being on a disk - but it cannot handle VCD's
with a menu - it uses its own menu if handling VCD - DIVX - SVCD - JPEG -
etc.
I tried the mini-DVD that NERO handles uses TMPGENC Author - but it would
not allow me to use non-standard video/audio - so the mini-DVD format works
fine but I was limied to standard VCD. I want to use KVCD.
Any freeware programs to get around this. Seems like I remeber years ago
(before I even had a CD-R/W that I played with IFOedit and created VOBS and
could force a player to think something was something but not - in relation
to SVCD's - thoghts...) - looked at IFOedit and not a mention anymore of
that - if it ever was.
thanx,
cya
