Like what - the crap or the best media or the same cost?
Actually that is easy to determine: Only Taiyo Yuden is the best and
all the rest is basically crap, even the highly-revered Verbatim
Mitsubishi (MCC). I got what's left of a spindle to prove it too.
You can get TY at rima.com, supermediastore.com and even Best Buy
brick and mortar stores for around 35 cents in +R and as low as 32
cents in -R.
What is happening - and this is confirmed by discussions on CDFreaks
forums - is that all the makers except TY are cutting corners in ways
that result in bad product on the market. Not all is bad and not all
makers are putting out totally bad product - but all the makers but TY
are putting out *some* bad product so it's a crap shoot (pun
intended).
If you can't handle 32-35 cents per TY disc then you deserve to find
out the hard way in 6 months that your beloved discs aren't readable.
