I thought the Russians invented everything, except the Internet which
Al Gore invented.
The British claim to have invented nuclear fission and long range
radar. So much for all those myths about Fermi building the first
nuclear reactor under the football stadium of the Univ. of Chicago and
so much for the myth of Louis Alverez and MIT's research labs.
Bardeen, et al, at Bell Labs did not invent the transisitor. It was
actually invented at Purdue University. Bardeen's group managed to
steal the thing from Purdue.
Thomas Edison did not invent the light bulb. A black researcher
discovered the material used in the original bulb. He and his
co-workers tested over 300 different materials until he happened on
the one that worked.
Microsoft did not invent the pre-emptive multi-tasking operating
system that is called Windows NT. It was stolen from DEC VAX VMS. MS
had to pay a settlement to DEC.
Compaq did not invent the transportable PC. The design was stolen from
Texas Instruments. Compaq had to pay a multi-million dollar settlement
to TI.
