You won't be able to transfer the 8mm tapes via firewire. Firewire will
transmit the full digital signal to your PC but as standard 8mm isn't
digital.... there's nothing to transmit. And the camera certainly won't
be doing any analogue to digital conversion. You'll have to use the
standard composite video connection for that.
