Arf a mo yerself, mate! The only person with whom I became argumentative was the one who called me an idiot. As we used to say in the playground -
he started it. If anyone else took my replies, admittedly tinged with
exasperation for being unable to get my Sony Handycam to talk to my
computer, as argumentative then I apologise.

My original question to which I got only one very brief reply was "What is
good software for transferring Handycam pictures to a PC. All I want to do
is to press Play on the Handycam and Record on the PC and have the entire
tape copied to my hard drive. I then want to be able to tell the PC to
split the tape into scenes and to be able to copy the scenes into a file
that can then be written to DVD. No Stephen Spielberg stuff required." I'm
happy to keep using my laptop to do it as that can accept USB streaming data
as well as having a firewire port. The software supplied by Sony (Image
Mixer) doesn't work - keeps saying the hard drive is full when it isn't -
and Ulead's product doesn't seem to want to accept any sound from the
Handycam. I have read the manual from cover to cover and specific sections
many times. I am exasperated at how difficult this is.

 Cheers - John
