  It depends a bit on the TV. If the TV has poor analog conversion, the  
digital input may give a better picture, even if it's not upconverted. 
 
  Also, some TV's default settings for digital inputs are closer to NTSC  
standards than other inputs. That can also give a better looking  
picture.
