Well, actually, the original ending indicated that the ship didn't _really_
sink -- it just died and went to heaven.
The subplot about the priceless diamond necklace became even more ridiculous
in the alternate ending. It was bad enough when that stupid bitch threw the
necklace overboard in the original ending. But when her stupidity is further
enhanced to include most of the crew, it becomes ludicrous.
