The other day I put a dvd in my computer, normally the drive would spin up
and spin down after a few seconds. But this time, it just spin and spin
without ever becoming ready. The only way to make it spin down is to remove
the dvd.
Turns out there is a deep scratch in the middle of the dvd. Somehow, this is
preventing the dvd drive from reading some essential info (e.g. the name of
the dvd), so it just keeps retrying.
Interestingly, this dvd plays fine in a dvd player except for a few minutes
of color blocks.
If you could master a dvd and scratch it the right way, it would be damn
hard to copy.
