DVD Decrypter and Nero both have Verify which I used to catch errors
after burning.
There is no reliable way to check for potential errors before burning.
If there are any, the burner will catch them.
The defects I get off crap discs are dye splotches which show up after
burning. Look at the active surface under a strong light with a
magnifying class and you can see small streaks where the dye smeared
out.
