He's confused. If your hard drive is big enough (all are that I know
of) then you wouldn't have to erase anything until it fills up. On my
DVD/HDD recorder this happens after about 40 hours of recording.
Erasing is very quick. Hardly a reason to chose a VCR over a DVD/HDD
recorder.
