Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of ANTHROPOPHAGUS: THE GRIM REAPER,
BARE NAKED SURVIVOR, THE CONFESSIONAL, THE CUTTER, DEBBIE DOES DALLAS
UNCOVERED, THE FUCCONS: OH MIKEY! (VOLUME 1), HOME OF THE BRAVE, HOW TO
MAKE A MONSTER / BLOOD OF DRACULA, THE PISTOL: THE BIRTH OF A LEGEND,
PRELUDE TO MURDER, PROMISES! PROMISES!, and SEXUAL CONFESSIONS:
ANTHROPOPHAGUS: THE GRIM REAPER (reviewed by Paul Corupe, overall
score 73/100):
"Anthropophagus may be the most notable horror effort mounted by Euro-
skin and sin maestro Joe D'Amato, but that doesn't mean that it's
particularly a good film. An ill-fated attempt to crossbreed the Italian
gut-muncher with more traditional horror elements, it's a predictable
failure that can't reconcile its ultimate gross-out moments with the
director's subtler intentions."

BARE NAKED SURVIVOR (reviewed by David Johnson, overall score 62/100):
"You want to know the level of humor we're dealing with here? The island
is called 'Butta Cheeka.'"

THE CONFESSIONAL (reviewed by David Johnson, overall score 67/100):
"You get multiple poisonings delivered through the Eucharist,
strangulation from some rosary beads, and a fiery beat down with a
church artifact. I guess that could be offensive, but the set-up and
execution of these scenes are so ham-fisted, and Sharp's Father Meldrum
is more goofy than methodically terrifying, it all came across as trying
too hard -- as if Walker was saying 'Look how controversial I am! Can
you believe I just did that?!?'"

THE CUTTER (reviewed by David Johnson, overall score 70/100):
"There are a few fist-fights, a car chase, a big explosion at the end,
and some intermittent gunfire, but all those necessary ingredients do
not a flavorful mayhem souffle make."

DEBBIE DOES DALLAS UNCOVERED (reviewed by Jonathan Weiss, overall
score 71/100):
"Well, get your tissues ready because we're about to find out whether
Debbie Does Dallas Uncovered is a hard new look into the world of
pornography or a limp and flaccid attempt at cashing in."
FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/debbiedoesdallasuncovered.php
THE FUCCONS: OH MIKEY! (VOLUME 1) (reviewed by Geoffrey Miller, overall
score 40/100):
"But the real problem with The Fuccons is that it
lacks...whatchamacallit...jokes!"
FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/fucconsvol1.php
HOME OF THE BRAVE (reviewed by Ian Visser, overall score 70/100):
"It's amazing to me that this dark part of American history is only 40
years old. Many of the participants involved with the case are still
alive, which brings home the fact that only a generation has passed
since the struggle for civil rights occurred."

HOW TO MAKE A MONSTER / BLOOD OF DRACULA (reviewed by Dennis Prince,
overall score 77/100):
"If you're keen for a do-it-yourself MST3K event, then this is the DVD
for you (and Blood of Dracula will definitely excel in this sort of
setting). This is fun and harmless fare, outdated and full of
unintentional camp."
FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/howtomakedracula.php
THE PISTOL: THE BIRTH OF A LEGEND (reviewed by David Johnson, overall
score 70/100):
"It's not bad in a malignant way. The filmmakers obviously have the best
of intentions, and the life lessons are good, and Pistol Pete's story is
indeed inspirational, but the finished product stumbles in its execution
and trades wit and originality for syrupy been-there-done-that
storytelling."

PRELUDE TO MURDER (reviewed by Ian Visser, overall score 70/100):
"And credit Rathbone and Bruce themselves, who resist the temptation to
merely phone-in their performances and instead finish the series in
enthusiastic form. "
FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/preludetomurder.php
PROMISES! PROMISES! (reviewed by Steve Evans, overall score 39/100):
"It's hard to imagine how awful this picture would be if not for the
occasional glimpse of undulating Mansfield flesh. Indeed, this is the
raison for the film's d'etre."
FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/promisespromises.php
SEXUAL CONFESSIONS (reviewed by Mitchell Hattaway, overall score
55/100):
"Nobody who's interested in these movies wants a history lesson. You
just want to know about the good stuff, don't you? Well I'm about to
tell you, so keep your shirt on."
