And the almost immeidate upshot of the RCA cancellation, was that
LD titles went up in price from $5 to $10 on average, to as much
as $20 for some selections.
Having RCA in the mix forced Pioneer to keep their LD prices down
to about $5 more per title than the corresponding CED.
RCA had many $19.95 titles and the LDs were typically $24.95 for
the same title. Within a few months those were $29.95 and some
at $34.95.

I probably have about 400 CEDs, and at least 3 times that many LDs.
I'm just if video junkie at heart :-)
