I mentioned why Blu-ray will win in terms of the fact that Blu-ray not
only has more storage than Toshiba's HD-DVD, but that it can also DO a
hell lot more than Toshiba's HDDVD, which as one analysts puts it, is a
"one trick pony". Blu-ray can run Java applications, the same platform
that runs your games on cellphones/PDAS, and works on your SIM cards,
while HDDVD CANNOT. So, blu-ray provides interactivity and features
that are way better than HDDVD.
I think another reason Blu-ray will win in the end is Brand Name.
Most of the quality manufacturers are on the Blu-ray side. You have
Sony, Panasonic, Samsung, Phillips (well, ok....)....
When someone is looking for highdef DVD, they won't simply go with the
price (we're talking discriminating people here who want good quality),
they'll make sure the brand is ok too.
Toshiba is ok, but honestly, it has nowhere near the brand loyalty or
brand power of the better brands like Sony, panasonic, or Samsung.
Toshiba does cheap laptops...other than that....
