I've encountered it a few times, but usually only at the beginning of a
movie so that credits won't appear sliced into.
The Synapse Films edition of Leni Riefenstah's 'Triumph of the Will'
opens like that, and so does the recent Universal transfer of The Marx
Bros' 'Animal Crackers'.
