I'm not sure this can be done with re-authoring, but I had the same problem
with burning video-tapes to dvd.
In the configuration menu, dvd-video, you can choose the audio-format.
This was set to automathic. I changed that to dolby-digital(ac-3) 2.0.
From then on I could play the dvd's on my stand-alone player.
