The really interesting XDCAM HD cameras are due next year with 50 Mbps and
4:2:2. Having compared the Canon XL-H1 with the cheaper of the two XDCAMs I
was not blown away at all. At twice the price I would have expected to see
far more than I did. Don't even think of using the gain!
But of course one cannot compare tape to XDCAMs for shear deadline busting
convenience.
