Well guys, I bought the FX1 when it first came out - before the Z1 -
and also because I already had a BeachTek box from a Canon XM2.
I wanted a camera with 16:9 SD to start with - HDV is a bonus - since
I split my work between directing and camerawork. So far I've shot four
docs with the FX1 (as well as doubling up with the Z1) for BBC Wales.
The pictures have been so good that the editor on one of them stated
that they were the best DV pictures he'd seen...
As it has already been said, there are about forty "extras" on the Z1,
but only you will know if you really need them. I only shoot in PAL, so
I'll never need NTSC. I only ever need to shoot "straight" video, so
being able to change one colour in a shot isn't a feature I'd want
either. :-)
