I teach video in a very small school. Kids love green screen effects,
but I've been hampered by the lack of a wave-form monitor. Yesterday it
dawned on me that I could use the Zebra switch on my prosumer camera to
check the evenness of the screen lighting. With manual iris and Zebra
switch on, I positioned the two omnis I use to light the screen until
the zebra effect appeared uniformly as I opened the iris. As we lit
the subject, we re-checked with the zebra switch several times. The
results were way better than what I can achieve with the naked eye, and
required a lot less tweaking in Final Cut. thought I'd pass this along
to other money-starved outfits!
